A 41 year-old mother of six from Suva has won an opportunity to visit the set of TV soap opera Bold and the Beautiful in Hollywood.
Mereoni Gonelevu’s mobile number was picked from the hundreds that participated and the 40 finalists.
Speaking to FBC News, Gonelevu is still trying to come to terms with the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the set of Bold and the Beautiful.
Gonelevu’s 13 year-old daughter used her phone to enter the competition organised by Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.
‘’It happened while i was on maternity leave. She would call me whenever the show came on but i didn’t know she had my phone at that time – when the competition was on. She told me later, by the way Mum, i texted your number in. So i asked what prize are you hoping for? She said something about a trip to Hollywood and she said, make sure when you win, you take me’’.
Depending on the visa application process and the actual shooting season for Bold And Beautiful, Gonelevu will then be flown over to LA with her 13 year-old daughter thanks to Fiji Airways.
FBC Chief executive, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says when FBC TV started in 2011 they wanted to introduce day time entertainment for people who are at home because there was nothing previously.
‘’All the entertainment by previous TV stations were concentrated at night. We knew there was a market for it. There was a demand for it and people would enjoy day-time soap. That is why we introduced Yaha-Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli and Pavita Rishta and Bold and the Beautiful’’.
Gonelevu will also receive day Passes to the World Famous Disneyland Theme Park, spend 5 fun filled days in Sunny California staying at the Hollywood Standard Hotel and will be given $1000 to check out American attractions.
