MSG partnership boosts growth for Fiji

Fiji’s consecutive economic growth can be attributed to her strong connections with the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG).

Fiji’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola highlighted this during the MSG Leaders Retreat on behalf of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Kubuabola says this can be due to strong ties with the MSG which has proved to work in our favour.

“Our trade with MSG accounts for 24% of our trade with Pacific Island countries. We have also tackled investment from MSG member countries especially Papua New Guinea across a wide range of economic sectors.”

Fiji’s economy is forecasted to grow at a rate of 2.8% in 2017 despite the detrimental impacts of Tropical Cyclone Winston earlier this year.
