Movie productions markets Fiji overseas: AG

When foreign film makers come to Fiji, they not only take advantage of our scenic locations for their production but through their production, market Fiji to the world.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this contributes to economic growth in many sectors.

Sayed-Khaiyum says Fiji currently offers forty seven percent tax rebate for international films shot here.

“When someone comes to make a film in Fiji, the eat our food, they use our location, they hire hotels, they hire personnel, they hire cars, they put money into the economy. One of the requirement is of course for them to be able to get a tax rebate, they need to be able to use students from the Fiji National University.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says many of these movies also show Fiji as an ideal holiday destination, value adding and increasing tourism numbers as a result.
