He highlighted the need for on-going improvements through benchmarking processes as well as continuous learning and professional development.

“For years, the Republic of Korean Government has been very supportive in empowering Fijians with advanced knowledge and skills to deliver services at a heightened level. Our second priority is to build on from where we are now with regards to training, exposure and capacity building programs for fisheries and aquaculture development to support our priorities in the Fisheries Sector”.

Naiqamu adds the MOU will bring their work in line with goals and targets set out in Fiji’s National Development Plan and the Ministry’s Strategic Development Plan for the next 10 years.

The Minister says this will also enhance cooperation between private sectors of the two countries in areas of fishing operations, aquaculture, fish-processing, fishery products distribution & marketing and other fisheries-related industries.
