MOU signed between SPREP AND ILO

A memorandum of understanding was signed to formalize cooperation between Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme and the International Labour Organisation in the areas of decent work in Fiji and the region.

Employment Minister Jone Usamate says the MOU will also address how the Pacific Island countries can meet the global labour standards.

Usamate says the MOU sets out the strategic goals of “Transforming Fiji” in the most sustainable way that reflects the advocacy and fight against Climate Change.

“This is an important collaboration on just transition and climate resilient economies and societies improving environmental sustainability, management of waste and pollution control and supporting community’s livelihood and national sustainable development objectives of member countries.”

Meanwhile, Usamate commended the two organizations for their contribution towards the government and the Pacific.
