Motorists urged to be mindful of school zones

The Land Transport Authority is urging motorists to be extra cautious when driving in school zones.

Chief executive, Samuel Simpson says drivers must beware of children on the roads especially in the morning and when school finishes.

Simpson says there have been cases where children became victims of tragic road accidents and this can be avoided.

Drivers are being reminded to not speed in school zones, slow down at school patrol signs, adhere to traffic signs and watch out for children crossing the road from behind parked cars.

Simpson is also advising bus drivers to be cautious when children are boarding and getting off the bus.

Parents and guardians are also urged to educate their children about road safety.

Simpson says the LTA will also increase its presence on the road this year to monitor such cases.
