Moto Road multi-cell to open

Work on the temporary Moto Road multi-cell culvert in Ba is now complete and will be open to all traffic from today.

The $650,000 temporary structure is the main and only link to about 10,000 people that reside along the Moto area.

Fiji Roads Authority spokesperson Iliesa Sokia says lives of people in the area will now return o normal.

“At around about 11 o’clock people of Ba especially that big street at Yakete where the Moto Road is situated they will once again be witnessing connectivity and people will resume to normalcy in terms of movement as bus service will also resume along the Moto Road.”

Moto is Ba’s biggest sugar producer and Sokia says while the crossing is a temporary one, it is capable of carrying heavy loads like cane and logging.

The initial Moto Bridge was completely destroyed during the January flood.
