A motion to amend Bill 29 of 2015 which is the Bill to amend the Value Added Tax Decree 1991 has been defeated in parliament.

The motion was out forward by Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa and Opposition MP Viliame Gavoka.

The motion was defeated by 25 votes.

Fourteen people voted for the motion while 9 did not vote.

MP’s are currently debating on Bill 27 – the Bill to enact and impose Environmental Levy on prescribed Service Turnover and other related matters.

This motion was put forward by the Acting Prime Minister and Finance Minister – Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
