Eight women and 65 men graduated from intensive training yesterday, joining the ranks of the Fiji Corrections Service.
Among them, a commissioned female officer, Meredani Kiliraki was awarded for her efforts after close to three years of sacrifice and commitment to the disciplined force.
“It was tough journey to be honest, it really was a tough journey but from family support and from the colleagues, I’m pretty thankful for their support.”
Officiating at the event, Minister for Defense and National Security, Inia Seruiratu commended the FCS on their newest recruits.
“And I’m indeed honored to, not only to be the official guest for the pass out parade but of course to commission one of the principal correction officer’s as well who happens to be a female. This is about empowerment consistent with Resolution 1325 of the United Nations and I’m glad that the Fiji Correctional Service is not an exception and there are bringing in more women into their senior leadership.”
The passing out parade was held at the Naboro complex in the company of family, friends and peers of the Corrections Service.
