More training to come: Usamate

More resources are likely to be poured into training medical workers.

The Health ministry has spent the last 5 years training undergraduate and post-graduate students for all health cadres.

Minister Jone Usamate says Fiji can now boast the highest number of trainees ever – in medical school in Fiji and abroad.

‘’In the very near future, we will be more than able to meet our own need in Fiji for doctors and nurses so that shortage of health professionals. Training has also targeted leaders, managers and supervisors equipping them with tools and skills to better manage the resources that the Ministry has been allocated’’.

The ministry has installed some high-tech medical equipment at CWM Hospital including a Mammogram machine, an OPG machine and a Digital Radiography machine.

Similar upgrades will follow in Lautoka and Labasa Hospitals.
