September 18, 2019 12:35 pm

The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs needs more time to review its processes in order to establish a Tabua shop.

The shop will be operated by the Ministry to sell hundreds of Tabua that were brought back from New Zealand through the Ministry of Environment in 2017.

Director for Development Services Division Waisale Ramoce says the shop which was expected to open in August has been delayed.

“So what we’ve realized is that there are a lot of processes that need to be done and as well as the formulation of the policies and other enactments that need to be done in order to control and also important to sustain the sale of the Tabua by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs”.

Ramoce adds the initiative will safeguard against the illegal movement of Tabua and ensure their sustainability.
