More than six thousand drivers charged

More than six thousand drivers have been charged so far during the second phase of the Operations Tatarovi by the Fiji Police Force and the Land Transport Authority.

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu says the 18th day of operation see more drivers being charged.

“A lot of drivers have been served with infringement notices and we hope that they themselves, we are just requesting the drivers if they themselves can plan the number of hours and the timings that they travel so that we can cut down the speeding issue that is one of the common offences that we have encountered so far.”

More than three thousand drivers were charged with over speeding, more than one thousand charged with careless driving and five hundred drivers were charged for driving without a seat belt.

The Operations Tatarovi II will be completed by the end of this month.
