More than 6000 overseas registered voters

More than six thousand Fijians from overseas have been registered for the 2018 general elections.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says voter registration has conducted overseas and the major registration drive for those living abroad will take place on Fiji Day.

The Fijian Elections Office also confirmed and removed 9,156 registered voters that have been tagged as deceased.

Saneem says that the Central Division topped the list, which totals to 258,849 people who have been registered.

In the Western Division, 230,058 and the Northern Division has 94,577 registered voters while 26,836 people are registered in the Eastern Division.

Saneem says that during the National Voters Registration Drive they were also able to conduct 32 home visits for persons who could not make it to the venue of the drive.
