More than 400 people have been assisted under the Home Care Initiative that is currently available in Nawaka, Nadi.
Recipient and Nawaka Villager Jovesa Koroitubuna says they are grateful for the assistance provided by government.
Koroitubuna says the money he received yesterday will go towards the purchasing of roofing irons for his house and also the carpets that were all destroyed by flood waters.
He says despite the long lines, they were still able to get the assistance.
Another Home Care Recipient Epi Naivalu says that he never dreamt that he would be receiving the funds which will allow him to rebuild his house that was partly damaged during the cyclone.
An Official from the Ministry of Social Welfare Litiana Baleinabuli says they have also extended the initiative to those living along the Nadi Back road.
She adds the Home Care Initiative currently available in Nawaka will wrap up today.
