More than 300 families in Nanuku and Veidogo to soon relocate

More than 300 families living in Nanuku and Veidogo squatter settlements will soon be relocating to Makoi, in Nasinu.

This follows the major development that the land developer, the K.Bhindi Brothers will be undertaking in the Vatuwaqa area.

Bhindi Brothers General Manager, Dr. Sagar Dhanji says they have bought land in Makoi and will be relocating the families once given the approval from relevant authorities.

“A native lease that was a development lease that we bought in Makoi and we will be developing them. We have already prepared the engineering works which is already with the Director of Town and Country Planning and those engineering plans, we should have approval soon. Once we receive the approval, then we will go ahead and start developing that Makoi land so that we can slowly start to move the squatters across from Vatuwaqa onto Makoi.”

  1. The total cost of relocating the families in Nanuku and Veidogo settlements is $12million.

Dr. Dhanji says they will develop an industrial area in the 52 acre land in Vatuwaqa and will be selling it to interested buyers.
