Consumer Council Chief Executive Seema Shandil says the collaborative effort will set a platform to raise awareness in the real estate sector in a more effective and holistic manner.

“The major focus of this partnership is to empower and protect consumers particularly those that fall in the disadvantaged and marginalized section of the society. This awareness session is not only to educate consumers on their rights and responsibilities when dealing with real estate agents but also to reach out to those consumers who are not confident enough to come to the council or REALB in terms of discussing the issue and or seeking assistance when they are cheated by the agents”.

REALB Board Chair, Dr. Abdul Hassan says working together will help in revising policy guidelines and real estate legislation.

The awareness program starts in Taveuni from Monday and will be carried out in other parts of the country later in the year.
