“Police are now not able to solve or address rape alone.”

This was highlighted by Officer in Charge in Cakaudrove ASP Kevueli Baledrokadroka.

Speaking during the Provincial Council Meeting in Savusavu today, ASP Baledrokadroka says they will only be able to stop or solve the increasing number of rape cases with the support of the Vanua, the Church and the Government.

He says there is no age limit to the offenders of this act.

ASP Baledrokadroka told the meeting that in Vanua Levu, an 81-year-old man of Bua is the latest to be charged in regard to this issue.

He says rape use to be prevalent in Viti-Levu but is also now happening in Vanua Levu.

He has urged members of the Council to be aware of the issue and talk about it with people at grassroots level.
