More roadside markets to be built

August 20, 2018 4:41 am

Plans are in the pipeline to construct more roadside markets and mini markets around the country.

Speaking during the opening of the Tavakubu Satellite Market in Lautoka today, Local Government Minister Parveen Bala says that these mini markets will boost business for families that rely solely on farming.

“Because the idea is to decentralize our markets and I’ve also been informed that another Satellite Market will be built at the old FNPF building in Lautoka in a few months’ time.”

Bala says the roadside markets that will be built, are for market vendors that have been suffering in silence over the past few years.

He says the priority is now to ensure that farmers and market vendors who sell on the roadside are provided with proper facilities.
