October 25, 2018 4:39 am

A trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Vanua Levu and is expected to drift south later today.

The Fiji Meteorological Service says associated clouds and showers affects the Northern and Eastern parts of the group and is expected to affect Fiji over the next few days.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and the Lomaiviti group.

However, a strong wind warning that was previously in force for all Fiji waters is now cancelled.

The Fiji Meteorological Service says showers will possibly increase to rain and become frequent and heavy from tonight.

Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas, therefore communities living in flood prone and low lying areas are reminded to be alert to the possibility of flooding.

The public is advised to remain updated with the latest weather information and take alerts and warnings seriously.
