More PRB housing to be developed

Close to one thousand Fijians that are in need of homes have registered their interest with the Public Rental Board.

Chief Executive Patrick Veu revealed this while acknowledging that three acres of land has been given to them by Housing Authority.

PRB has been allocated the land which is part of Housing Authority’s new development site at Davuilevu Housing in Nausori.

Veu says this is timely considering the influx of interest from potential tenants with six hundred applications from the Central Division, three hundred from the West and a little over 100 from the North.

“We can accommodate part of that six hundred if the three acres is given to us and we are able to develop that and we would be able to construct maybe hundred and fifty to two hundred rental flats and that will sort of cushion the wait list that is there.”

PRB is yet to put together a master plan for the three acre piece of land that is expected to benefit many Fijians.
