Police Officers will be present at different picnic sites today.
Chief of Operations ACP Maretino Qiolevu says this will be done to ensure a safe environment is provided for those planning to enjoy the last day of the long weekend with families and friends.
Qiolevu says as seen in the past, many tend to drink and later drive their families back home from picnic spots.
The Police warns this will not be entertained and necessary action will be taken against them.
“Our patrol will extend to all the picnic spots in Fiji. This will be done to monitor and keep the peace out there. Police visibility is always a deterrent. So it’s very important for us to be patrolling these picnic sites.”
Qiolevu is also urging parents to plan their outings accordingly as the weather is not very favorable.
He is also advising drivers to be cautious while driving near flooded areas and follow road rules.
