More needs to be done to raise NDCs says PM

Prime Minister and COP23 President Voreqe Bainimarama is calling on nations to do more to raise the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for reducing greenhouse gas and emissions.

He made this call during the wrap-up meeting of the Presidencies Talanoa Dialogue in Bonn, Germany.

The PM said he was encouraged to see delegates actively engage in the processes, embracing the Talanoa Spirit.

Bainimarama urged delegates to please make it easier for us to gain access to the finance we need to build our resilience.

He called on the leaders to please do more to embrace the opportunities that will flow for your own people and the whole world from the transition to net-zero emissions economies.

The COP23 President stressed that they needed to work together as members of the great human family to confront this challenge once and for all.

The PM adding that we are all in the same canoe and time is running out and now is the time to show the leadership that the world so desperately needs.
