More Methodist members under corrections care

The number of Methodist Church members who are incarcerated continues to increase every year.

This was revealed by the Fiji Correction Service Chaplain Rev Josefa Tikonatabua while making a presentation at the Annual Methodist Conference yesterday.

Reverend Tikonatabua says 685 members of the congregation are serving time, compared to 654 last year.

He says the statistics shows that convicted members of the church were involved in 3 major offences namely rape, aggravated robbery and illicit drugs.

The total number of rape cases so far this year which involves Methodist Church members is 238 compared to 209 last year.

These statistics have caused worry with the Methodist Church.
