Fiji Airways is looking increase it’s ratio of local pilots to foreign from 70 to 30 percent as opposed to the current 55 to 45 percent ratio.
The Airline’s Chief Executive Andre Viljoen says it’s something they anticipate with the acquisition of a new airbus A330-300.
Civil Aviation Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this will be done through their localization program over the next few years.
“The CEO has also set out to get more local pilots to be trained through the system through Fiji Link and we are all very excited about this and look forward to working with CEO.”
Like its other airbus aircrafts; the Island of Taveuni and ‘Island of Namuka-i-lau’, the new airbus’s name will be revealed upon its arrival.
