The Birdlife International is calling for more focus and awareness on the protection of our native birds species.

Regional Director Mark O’Brian says there are some native birds that are on the verge of extinction and more collaboration is needed for people to be aware of our native birds.

Brian is calling for more national focus on the issue.

“I think there is more that can be done, I have mentioned a number of species which are of less concern but they are endemic species to Fiji alone.”

Birdlife International is expected to continuously visit the rural and maritime Islands to create more awareness on the protection of our endangered bird species.
