More effort needed to report on climate change issues: Russell

More efforts are needed in reporting and creating awareness on climate change.

This is the statement made by Russell Isaac a facilitator for Climate Change and Sustainable Development content workshop.

The week long workshop was held in Suva this week and local journalist were given a chance to learn how to put together climate change stories.

Isaac says journalists do play a big role in creating a high level of awareness to the people.

He says climate change is a growing issue and it is vital that journalists do know the proper way to report on the matter.

“The significance of the workshop is to sensitize journalist with the need of becoming more proactive rather than reactive to events, they need to become a lot more proactive and to be involve as a major stakeholder in the significance battle against climate change.”

In collaboration with ABU, UNESCO and the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, journalists from Fiji and around the region were able to learn on how to provide media coverage on Climate Change issues.
