There is a need to speed up small claims and employment relations tribunal cases says Chief Justice Anthony Gates.

Justice Gates says this is an area of concern that needs to be addressed as soon as possible, however, following the right processes and transparency.

Chief Justice says to deal with the concern more court houses are needed.

“We may eventually have a new court house in Nabouwalu and Savusavu. We certainly are building a court house in Nasinu. There will be more work at government buildings in Suva and we will have an overflow court in Lautoka at Tagimoucia Road, where we will have three high courts to attend to criminal child cases.”

Apart from this issue, other areas of concern includes more mediation in the Magistrate Court, taking down statements and video interrogation.
