More communities preparing for violence free campaign

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation is preparing twenty-one new communities for the Zero Tolerance Violence Free Community Campaign.

So far thirty-nine communities have been declared violence free communities.

Minister Rosy Akbar says twenty-seven communities have completed the commitment phase.

These communities have male leaders who lead the gatekeepers committee and they play an important role in championing women’s rights and empowerment.

The police officers in these communities also receive training on gender- sensitisation and appropriate service delivery for victims of Gender- Based Violence.
