More building permits issued: statistics reveal

Fiji’s construction sector is performing well as 344 building permits worth $43.5m was issued in the first quarter of this year.

The number has increased by 14 percent but the value is 39 per cent lower.

Figures released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics show that permits issued for commercial buildings contributed significantly to the non private dwellings components.

The highest number of permits was issued for the central division which amounted to $32.2m.

A total of 107 completion certificates with a value of $21.7m were issued in the first quarter, a decrease of 3.6 per cent compared to the same time last year.
