More awareness needed on online transactions: Minam

ANZ Bank Country Head, Saud Minam says there’s a need for more awareness about paperless transactions.

He says Fijians are cautious about online transactions as they think that it is not secure however this mindset needs to change.

Minam says there are some websites and companies which indulge in fraudulent activities and people need to do their research before making a transaction.

“When we ask someone to pay through cad, they always think its fraudulent activity. They always think something is going to be compromised. So yes, the fear is always there, so is the fear of someone snatching your cash as well? It’s just a matter of changing your mind set.”

He says during the Business 2025 Forum, the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry will work with regulatory bodies to see how this can be improved.

The Business 2025 Forum will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva this Saturday.
