Month of Ramadan begins

The month of Ramadan has begun today and Muslims will be fasting from sun-rise to sun-set during this period.

For Muslims, Ramadan is a holy month dedicated to prayer, Quran recitation, and introspection and fasting during the sunlight hours.

Fiji Muslim League Head Priest – Mahboob Sher Khan says Muslims should refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking and sinful behavior.

‘’Observe the fasting, follow all the teachings of Allah and try and take as much as possible benefits from this blessed month’’.

The fast is intended to bring the faithful closer to God and to remind them of the suffering of those less fortunate.

Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the festival of breaking of the fast, which marks the end of Ramadan.
