The Health Ministry will be wrapping up its mass vaccination campaign, the Men C programme at the end of this month.

Minister, Rosy Akbar says the campaign has been successful achieving its aim of immunizing children from the meningococcal disease.

Akbar says as we approach the end of the killer disease outbreak, the Ministry will still be providing vaccinations at health centres.

“Vaccination is still available in all the health facilities, therefore if parents know that their children have missed out they can still go to their nearest health centres to be vaccinated. Once we try to finish up the house to house visitation phase from the 1st of October to the 31st of October – if we feel that we have still missed out – we will keep it open. We have enough dosage of the vaccination to cover the entire targeted population.”

Akbar says the Ministry has been able to achieve 72 percent of the targeted population.

She adds in order to achieve the remaining 28 percent, a house to house visitation will be carried out to immunize those who might have missed out.
