Model town Koroipita gets electricity for Christmas

Over one-thousand Fijians in Koroipita Lautoka will be lightened up this Christmas as they now have electricity supply.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum officially commissioned the electricity supply for one-hundred and fifty homes yesterday evening.

The Rural Electrification Project was for Stages 2 and 3 of Koroipita.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this will increase productivity and the residents who now have lights for studying, general safety and they can implement income-generating projects.

Government has its focus on rural electrification and connecting people to electricity because electricity we see the connectivity to the electricity as a key component to improving people’s quality of life.”

He also highlighted the Government’s commitment to fully transition to renewable energy sources by 2030, and the opportunities availed for consumers to become shareholders of Energy Fiji Limited.
