Missing files investigations go deep

October 18, 2012 5:47 am

A team of Police officers is digging through past records to find out just how many files went missing from the Police Prosecution.

Force Spokesperson – Ana Naisoro says the exercise may take time but the police commissioner has directed that it needs urgent attention.

“There have been times when these things weren’t done the way they were supposed to have been done. We have to know how come these things happened and weren’t questioned. This is the type of attitude we are trying to change.”

Naisoro adds their investigations will try to determine whether any bribery exchanged in the disappearance of any files.

“We cannot pinpoint a certain area but we are looking into all avenues. This incident has been occurring in the past and we need to put a stop to it. At this moment, I will not be able to divulge any other information until after investigations are complete.”

Police Commissioner Brigadier Ioane Naivalurua says officers who’re found guilty of misplacing the files will be investigated and charged.
