Ministry works on addressing medicine shortage

Steps are being taken to resolve shortages of medicines and consumables that we continue to face.

The Health and Medical Services Minster, Rosy Akbar, says the Ministry has been in talks with the Indian government.

“Two trips to India, we managed to meet up with the health minister in India, the director of health services in India and the Indian Government is keen to support us on ensuring that we strengthen our pharmaceutical supply and distribution chain.”

The Free Medicine Scheme will continue in the new financial year with an allocation of ten million dollars.

The scheme provides one hundred and seventy-two different medicines to households that have a combined income of less than twenty thousand dollars.
