Ministry to expand training opportunities

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation will expand training opportunities on FJ Rocket to women groups in rural and remote communities.

Minister, Rosy Akbar says the project has generated positive feedbacks from women groups that have undergone training in the construction of rocket stoves.

The Ministry has trained more than 130 individuals to date and the next training for the FJ Rocket stove is proposed for Navala Village in Ba.

Akbar says the Fijian Made rocket stove is designed to raise awareness on climate change mitigation and the stoves are convenient to use, it uses less firewood and produces less smoke while cooking.

The FJ Rocket Stove project was officially launched by the Ministry of Women in July 2014.
