Education Minister – Dr Mahendra Reddy says 2016 will be a year to consolidate a number of reforms that were undertaken this year.
Dr Reddy says they need to fine tune the reforms that the ministry is undertaking now, so that they can deliver the desired outcomes.
He says they will also be looking at more parental engagement in the school system.
“Lot of time, effort and resources will be spent on that. There is another pillar that we will be launching next year which deals with parental engagement. There is an issue, probably significantly a major issue in respect to student discipline – we need to deal with that – so it is a full strategy that we will launch next year.”
The Education ministry has been allocated $432.2m in the 2016 Budget an increase of $30.6 million.
