The employment ministry has clarified some of the situations in which employees are entitled to take family care leave.

During the Annual General Meeting of the Textile, Clothing and Footwear council – the owner of United Apparel, Kaushik Kumar claims there is no set of rules for family care leave.

Kumar says the ministry should re-look at the leave and set rules for the employees to provide evidence.

“There needs to be some set criteria and rules where evidence needs to be provided that they genuinely took leave to provide family care. I don’t think any employer has an issue in providing family care leave to anyone who does have a genuine situation.”

Meanwhile, the ministry has provided clarification on the criteria that the leave can only be taken for immediate family members.
