The Ministry of Fisheries is reminding members of the public that those wishing to apply for fishing licenses in 2017 need to follow proper procedures.

Minister Semi Koroilavesau says applicants must present a fishing permit, personal documents, a boat master license from the Maritime Safety Authority and relevant details of boats.

These requirements are needed for obtaining a fishing license along with medical certificates for fishermen over the age of 60.

Fishing licenses are only valid for a year.
