Ministry of Women assures affected families

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation is assuring affected families that no will be left out of the ‘Help for Home’ Government Initiative program.

The implementation of the second phase ‘Help for Home’ Initiative which commenced from the 28th to 30th of last month for Tailevu North and Wainibuka areas were carried out in order to properly and thoroughly assist those who may have missed out in the first phase, ensuring that every Fijian is assisted.

In phase 1, 23,000 people were assisted under this initiative and $86million was utilized.

For the beginning of phase 2 in Tailevu North and Wainibuka, 1,300 recipients were assisted at a cost of $4.78 million.

The Ministry is advising those whose names are not included within the Master list and the Commissioner’s office list, that assessment will be done on site by the respective officers.

The Naitasiri province will be assisted from the 4th to 6th of January. $20 million is allocated for this 2nd phase and this is expected to be completed before the 4th of February 2017.
