Ministry of Defense working with other stakeholders

Minister for Defense, National Security and Immigration, Timoci Natuva has confirmed his Ministry is working with stakeholders to combat the recent increase in the importation of drugs into and through Fiji.

Natuva was responding to a question by Opposition MP Alexander O’Connor asking what the Fiji Police Force and his Ministry are doing in relation to this issue.

He says the sharing of information and the working relationship with overseas law enforcement has been improved over the years.

“We have signed a memorandum of understanding with countries in the region and countries out of the region on relationship of sharing information which make it more complete.”

The Minister of Defence also confirmed to the House that they are getting daily updates from the region and internationally in relation to drug trafficking.
