Ministry completes last phase of Help for Home initiative

The third and the last phase of the Help for Homes initiative has been completed in Bua, Savusavu and Taveuni.

The initiative is being rolled out by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.

Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Josefa Koroivueta says it was also a good time to visit families who are already part of the initiative.

“It’s comforting and also satisfying that when we go into communities we see the lovely homes being built now, some of them have actually change the landscape of the communities, and of course they build a better livelihood now for the family, they got a shelter that’s much better than what they use to have before, they feel safer and feel more secure and certainly its contributing to better resilient in their individual lives and also the lives of women children and the families.”

Koroivueta says the ministry is now in the monitoring stage to ensure all funds are well utilized.

The ministry currently monitors from the Help for Homes database which records data regarding all recipients.
