The Agriculture Ministry has a number of projects in the pipeline that will provide more opportunities to farmers and exporters.
The project will ensure they’re assisted once by the ministry and are encouraged to reinvest on their own from then on.
Minister responsible, Dr Mahendra Reddy says they have an Agro-Processors Infrastructure Support Program (APIS) budgeted at $1 million.
Dr Reddy says the APIS aims to achieve economic growth by encouraging consistent supply, improving existing export pathways and creating new export opportunities.
He says the program focuses on helping exporters meet standards and requirements of importing countries and businesses.
The Program includes the establishment of collection centres, cold storage systems and the improvement of current processing and exporting facilities to meet international market requirements.
