Ministry collaborates with GGGI to help sector

June 27, 2017 12:50 am

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is collaborating with the Global Green Growth Institute to help in the development of the energy and transport sector.

Permanent Secretary, Paul Bayly says the two stakeholders are currently carrying out a two day workshop to help enhance the energy sector in Fiji and all GGI member countries around the Pacific.

“It also provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas. I know this workshop includes representatives from climate change, environment, energy, water, planning and finance departments, as well as a development bank. This is a great opportunity to learn from each other and explore integrated approaches, how to improve our existing projects and ideas for new projects.”

Bayly says the GGGI is also supporting the ministry in building its capacity in new technologies and financing mechanisms.

The ministry is focused on developing green infrastructure as part of the Government of Fiji’s efforts to drive down our greenhouse emissions and to ensure Fiji becomes more resilient to climate change.
