Ministry clears 2000 worker compensation cases

October 16, 2012 5:00 am

A backlog of more than 2000 cases involving workers compensation has been resolved since 2005.

And the Labour Ministry says this achievement is the result of the implementation of the Service Excellence Awards program.

Deputy Secretary – Samuela Namosimalua says the ministry has had to re-engineer it customer services to meet the needs of clients.

“It was not quite easy for us to resolve. With the support from some personnel from the Military Forces we have been able to deal with that and I can say it was also largely due to the business process – re-engineering that we had to take within the Ministry. Not only that area – there were other areas for example we have the National Employment Center – we had the law in place but of course with that law we had to put in place systems and process to effect the laws efficiently.”

The Service Excellence Wards 2012 will be held in Lami on Friday.
