Minister visits Wainibuku residents and empowers women

Residents from Wainibuku Hart Settlement in Nasinu had an opportunity to discuss their daily challenges with the Women Minister.

During her visit to the area – Mereseini Vuniwaqa spoke about the Ministry’s roles, the various assistance schemes in place, women empowerment and the potential for Fijians living in settlements.

Vuniwaqa says it’s important to empower residents on how they can help the country’s development.

“Something that could help you provide for your children and that’s part of what we do. We empower women, we enhance what they have to help them help themselves. So this visit is about that. To hear from you, how further we can help.”

With International Women’s Day tomorrow – Vuniwaqa also reminded women of their importance in the family circle and in the community.

Elderly citizens, single mothers, and children were part of the talanoa session.
