August 20, 2018 10:17 pm

Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou has made an appeal to all Fijians to equally treat and respect individuals with disability and special needs.

This comes after Tuitubou handed over more than $1,500 worth of yagona to Bimlesh Deo Sharma from Volivoli Indo Settlement in Rakiraki who is disabled.

This is to assist in the running of Sharma’s small business as a grog seller.

Tuitubou says everyone wants to have friends, fun and experience life to the maximum and people with disabilities should be treated equally and fairly by all Fijians.

He further stressed it was important for communities to assist and encourage people living with a disability, so that they feel loved and are able to be independent.

The minister adds that we’re all different and we all see the world through different lens which is shaped by our situation, our upbringing, our lifestyle and a long list of other contributing factors.

Meanwhile, Sharma thanked the Minister and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the kind gesture.
