Minister tells Nausori Town Council to wake up

May 4, 2018 12:06 am

CCTV surveillance cameras will soon be installed at the Nausori market.

This comes after the Nausori town council was given a directive by Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar to strengthen the security at the market following a recent robbery.

Kumar says the CCTV cameras are expected to be installed within a month or two.
The market is also expected to increase its security officers from two to four as the market is very big.

Kumar says he has also been informed that Police are conducting an investigation to arrest those involved in the market robbery.

He says this is the second time the market has been robbed.

Minister tells Nausori Town Council to wake up

May 3, 2018 6:40 pm

Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar has called on the Nausori Town Council to wake up and strengthen security at the Nausori market.

This comes after an overnight robbery at the market last week and a robbery last year.

Kumar has directed the Nausori Town Council to beef up its security from two to four security officers as the market is very big.

“Not only that we also need to have cameras here and we will definitely within a month or so going to install cameras within the market. So what I’m saying is people have to come forward to assist us because we are not here full time so they need to come and assist us so we can get hold of the culprit.”

Kumar says he has also been informed that Police are conducting an investigation to arrest those involved in the market robbery.

He says this is the second time the market has been robbed.

The Minister has instructed the Nausori Town Council to act on this matter after meeting with market vendors and hearing their grievances.

He adds they will also install security grills at the market as another security measure.
