Minister for Women Rosy Akbar has highlighted Fiji’s call for global and collective responsibility towards addressing the threat posed by climate change.
Akbar also highlighted the consequences that climate change poses on small island nations.
While chairing the plenary session of civil society organizations at the PIDF meeting, Akbar used this opportunity to highlight policies and programs reflecting Fiji’s commitment against climate change.
The Minister highlighted that Fiji has already launched the Green Growth Framework, National Climate Change Policy of 2012 and the National Climate Change Adaptation strategy of 2011- an attempt to lessen Fiji’s footprint on the global environment.
She adds the outcomes achieved will directly feed into the text of our call at the United Nations Climate Change Summit to be held in Paris.
