PS for Defense, Major General Iowane Naivalurua has reminded corrections officers the important role they play during their duties.

Speaking as Chief Guest at the Passing out Parade of new recruits in Naboro yesterday, Naivalurua says correction officers need to be on alert at all times.

He says transparency is vital for officers as they work in an environment which requires them to be fully versed with the law.

“As correction officers you have great responsibilities in building high standards of professionalism enforcing our laws and ensuring the sentences determined by our courts is served.”

Naivalurua has urged corrections officers to work together and ensure that inmates are treated fairly.
